My Crazy Game of Thrones Theory - Season 7 Teaser "The Long Walk"

I've had this crazy theory for a while, but after seeing this trailer yesterday and having the time to digest it I'm thinking more and more that it could be true. If you haven't seen the trailer yet here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/entertainmentweekly/videos/10154620448267734/

So, here it is. There are three Targaryens in Westeros. Dany of course, who has taken her families seat at Dragonstone until she can knock Cersei's butt off of that Iron Throne. Then there is Jon who has been confirmed as a "Stargaryen" (Stark and Targaryen, son of Prince Rhaegar and Lyanna Stark). Last, but not least that leaves Cersei. Wait, WTF?!? How can Cersei be a Lannister? This is how...

In the books (and the show) Tywin Lannister was married to his cousin Joanna. This was the mother of Cersei, Jaime and Tyrion. Tywin Lannister and Aerys Targareyn (aka the Mad King) were best friends at one time and dirty old Aerys had a thing for Joanna. When Tywin and Joanna were married it is mentioned that Aerys Targaryen "took liberties with the bedding ritual," possibly invoking the right of Prima Nocte, a medieval ritual where a lord (or king in this instance) had first rights to bed the bride. Tywin was furious about whatever happened and the incident was one of many that led to his split with his old friend Aerys. Here is the thing (and it's a little crazy and soap opera-ish). Twins can have separate fathers. If a woman beds two men within a certain period it is medically possible that two sperm (one from each man) can get into an egg. I think Cersei is Aerys Targaryen's daughter and Dany's sister. However, I think Jaime is in fact only a Lannister.

There are some who think Tyrion may be Aerys Targaryen's son. He's a dwarf and the Targaryens were very incestuous for years sometimes causing birth defects. Tywin specifically says to Tyrion that he cannot prove he is not his son. So, could be. I'm not discounting that theory at all. I love Tyrion and I definitely want him to be riding one of those dragons no matter what. Think about it though. Cersei is cruel (like the Mad King) and she just blew up part of the city killing loads of innocent people in order to become queen. (And the woman didn't even care that her son committed suicide because of her actions). That's the exact reason that Jaime killed the Mad King. He wanted to "burn them all" with wildfire rather than being overthrown. Like father like daughter, huh? Dany has shown these tendencies as well, but due to her upbringing and ability to have advisors that tell her no she reigns herself in. Cersei grew up in a totally different environment. She did not have a mother either, but she had the upbringing of a high lady and was always told that she was a Lannister and that people should worship her for that alone. She has no idea what it is like to be a common person.

There are always three heads to the dragon and I think those are the three, but I'll be damned if one of Dany's dragons bows down and let's Cersei ride him. I think Tyrion is going to have a dragon that will eat her and spit her out. That is, after Jaime kills her. I guess I have to go ahead and explain that theory as well...

When a young Cersei visits Maggy the Frog in Casterly Rock she asks about her future and if she will marry the prince, referring to Rhaegar Targaryen. The woman tells her no, she will marry the king. He will have 16 children (I think) and she will have three. "Gold will be their crowns and gold their shrouds." And she will be queen until another comes that is younger and more beautiful (obviously Dany and I don't know why Cersei hasn't figured that out yet). Maggy also tells her she will be killed by the valonqar, "And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you."

Valonqar is Valyrian for "little brother." Naturally, Cersei assumes this is Tyrion which furthers her hatred and distrust of him. Tyrion is not her only younger brother though. She is forgetting that though she and Jaime were born together she came out first with Jaime holding onto her ankle. That makes him her younger brother no matter how many seconds apart they were. So, Jaime is finally going to see Cersei for what she truly is and bring her down (sacrificing himself in the process) and then Tyrion's dragon will swallow her up, but spit her bitter ass out.

As for a dragon for Jon, I'm not sure. Could be Rhaegal or Viscerion or it could be the mythical Ice Dragon hidden underneath the Wall. I'm still pondering that one. We'll find out more on July 16th. Let me know if you have any theories!

#musiciscoming | Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience

I recently attended the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience in Atlanta, GA. I had attended the Lord of the Rings concert back in the mid 2000s and loved it and since I love music and all things Game of Thrones I was ready. And what an experience it was.

The arena filled with smoke, swords clashed in the clouds changing from blue to red (ice and fire) and the Iron Throne appeared while that familiar song started to play. I was so in awe that I completely forgot to take a picture of the Iron Throne as it rose through the floor in the middle of the arena. Once I had the presence of mind to pull out my phone and take a picture, it vanished never to be seen again. :/ I did however, take pictures of other parts of the concert as well as some video, which I hope I don't get in trouble for, but I just couldn't help myself. I've also had The Rains of Castamere stuck in my head for days... A small price to pay for such a great experience.

Ramin Djawadi, who has written all of the music for Thrones also conducted the orchestra and even delighted us in playing different instruments from time to time. The concert explored character arcs, love and hate, throughout the six seasons of the show that we were able to view on large screens as the orchestra played on the stage. It was no normal stage either. It spanned the entire floor of the arena with special "vignettes" where solos took place. We were even showered with red leaves from the weirwood tree and snow from the North. For two hours, we revisited the journey from season one where we first met the characters, lost some we didn't expect and saw magic come back to Westeros and Essos, to the Battle of Blackwater Bay in season two (where we saw what wildfire can really do), to the epic Battle of the Bastards, the terrifyingly cruel Hold the Door and Cersei's destruction of the Sept of Baelor and takeover of the Iron Throne. And let's not forget the dragons for they are coming to Westeros! There was dragonfire that almost seemed real as well as some wildfire. All themes and characters were explored. The set was stunning and most of the orchestra (especially the soloists) were even dressed in themed costumes. Instruments I've never seen before appeared including a 14 foot horn.

I'm now obsessed with the song "Light of the Seven", which is from Season 6 and about the time Cersei blew up the Sept of Baelor and started her official reign of terror. This definitely takes the Game of Thrones experience to a whole new level. Only 3 1/2 more months until the premiere on 07.16.17. Enjoy pics from the concert below. If you want to see more here is the official site for the concert. There are only a few days left. http://www.gameofthronesconcert.com/

Game of Thrones Season 7 Teaser Trailer - Rivals Take Their Seats

HBO released a season 7 teaser trailer for Game of Thrones today and what a tease it is. It looks as though Dany, Jon and Cersei will all be vying for the throne. Cersei is in Kings Landing of course where it looks like winter has finally come. Jon is at his seat in Winterfell (a seat he never thought he would hold). And it Dany has taken her temporary seat at Dragonstone since it's abandonment after the demise of Stannis Baratheon. It's a fitting visit on Dany's journey to possibly sitting on the Iron Throne as Dragonstone was the original seat of the Targaryen heirs who were next in line for the Iron Throne, including her brother Rhaegar who we may see in flashbacks during season 7. If you haven't seen it yet the link is below. Only 3 1/2 more months to the season premiere on 07.16.17. I never thought I'd be so happy to see July! Also, some exciting news. I hope to launch a Game of Thrones podcast for season 7. I'm still working on the name so more details are to come. I will be doing a recap of season 6 before the premiere of season 7.

Is Drogo Coming Back???

Will the great Khal Drogo be returning to Game of Thrones in Season 7? Could be. Jason Momoa, the actor who portrayed Drogo in Season 1, has been spotted in Northern Ireland, the base for GoT filming. He even posted this pic on Instagram hanging out with the show producers, David Benioff and DB Weiss.
Some believe Drogo has already returned in the form of his namesake dragon, Drogon. The witch Mirri Maz Duur told Dany that Drogo would return to her, "When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. When the seas go dry and the mountains blow like winds in the leaves. When your womb quickens again, and you bear a living child. Then he will return, and not before." There are many conversations around this and whether or not these things have happened to Dany or not.

So, is Drogo returning? Kit Harrington continually denied he was in Ireland last year to return as Jon Snow and we all know how that turned out, but they could be pulling one over on us this time. I'll keep you posted!

And the father is...

I guess after the June 26th finale and the reveal that Jon Snow was actually born to Lyanna Stark and is not at all Ned Stark's bastard, we were still supposed to be questioning who Jon's father could possibly be... While I realize some non-book readers and GoT watchers are catching up, I really don't see how there was any question. SPOILER WARNING: His father is the beloved (yep, unlike his father Rhaegar was beloved by most) prince is the father of Jon Snow. HBO even supplied us with this wonderful and confusing map of enemies, parentage and such.

For those of you who know all of the characters like the back of your hand (or even if you don't), I just want to point out that the Rhaenys and Aegon they refer to, were Rhaegar and Elia Martell's children. Not Aegon the Conquerer and his sister Rhaenys Targaryen. I did a double-take for that so I thought I would mention it.

If you'd like to know more about Rhaegar Targaryen he looked a lot like his brother and sister, Daenerys and Viserys. He was very good looking with the platinum hair and violet eyes of the Targaryens and he played the harp. He was married to Oberyn and Doran's sister Elia and had two children with her whom he named after Aegon the Conquerer and one of his sister wives Rhaenys. In later years he did not get along with his father, mainly because his father went mad after being kidnapped and became paranoid of his son (and everyone else).  Rhaegar did actually think about deposing his father before the rebellion started, especially after Aerys started killing people with wildfire without first giving them a trial therefore triggering a rebellion. (And because of all the other crazy things the Mad Kind did such as not bathing or cutting his hair or fingernails). Rhaegar had a touch of the Targaryen madness, though nowhere near the amount his father had. He believed he would fulfill a prophecy by having a boy and two girls who would take up the names of his ancestors the Conquerer and his sister wives, Rhaenys and Visenya. As stated above, his arranged marriage to Elia Martell produced two offspring, but after Elia had a miscarriage the maesters said she would never have another child. That is when Rhaegar turned to Lyanna Stark. At a famed tournament, Rhaegar named Lyanna Stark the queen of love and beauty instead of his wife. Some time after (whether you believe he kidnapped her or she went willingly) he and Lyanna ended up in the Tower of Joy and a baby was made. I tend to believe Lyanna ran off with Rhaegar. She told Ned she did not love Robert and she knew he would never be true to her. She was wild and free, even if that freedom was the last nail in the proverbial coffin. The Mad King had killed Brandon and Rickard Stark for no reason and very brutally, then demanded that Jon Arryn kill his wards, Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon, all while Rhaegar sought to depose him, but he ran off with Lyanna Stark instead. So, that leaves us where we are today. And while many on the internet have been theorizing what Jon's Targaryen name would be, let me remind you that Rhaegar believed he would have another girl. He already had an Aegon and a Rhaenys (therefore Jon wouldn't have been another Aegon) so Jon should've been a Visenya if you want to get technical. So, why don't we just leave Jon as Jon. Though it doensn't hurt to theorize while we're on break. And, he's still a bastard since his parents weren't married (unless in secret) and are not alive to legitimize him. That's a whole other issue entirely...

Only 13 Episodes Left!

It has finally been confirmed that there are only 13-15 episodes left for Game of Thrones. The executive producers David Beinoff and DB Weiss only ever wanted to do around 73 episodes and that will break down season 7 to seven episodes, leaving season 8 with only 6. This isn't too surprising considering the budget for this show grows with every season and since there are momentous battles to come for Westeros with the living and the undead there will be a lot of CGI for those white walkers and dragons. They also stated that this is one story and they want it to be cohesive. Characters are finally in their places (or on their way). Alliances have been made and though there is still plenty more to come everything good must come to an end. The season 6 finale was extended to 75 minutes, so we can only hope the season 7 finale will be extended. I'm also sure the series finale will be extended as well. This is my assumption, but I think it will be around 2 hours. That's not unheard of in the industry today. The series finale of Lost was 2.5 hours and the season 6 finale of The Walking Dead was 1.5 hours. I have no doubt that a majority of fans will be happy with the last episode even though we'll all be crying on the inside.
